Jazz Daze and the Music Curriculum

Jazz Daze presents opportunities for pupils to explore jazz and related popular styles in imaginative ways.

At KS3, suggested activities contribute to

  • Developing vocal techniques and musical expression

  • Improvising, exploring and developing musical ideas when performing

  • Developing and extending musical ideas within musical structures and given genres, styles and traditions

  • Communicating ideas and feelings about music

  • Identifying ICT processes in music

  • Responding to music from jazz and popular genres by well-known performers

Where schools have incorporated and adapted units from the KS3 QCA music scheme of work, it will be found that Jazz Daze activities enrich the following units:

  • Learn how riffs can be created and manipulated using music technology

  • Develop simple groove forms

Unit 13: Music and Media

  • Identify specific ways in which music and visual images can be brought together

Unit 15: Song (exploring songs and the use of music technology)
