Bird to the right of Courtney

Bird is friends with Courtney and Duke. The three boys are always there for one another. Courtney needs the support of his friends when things turn crazy!

'Bird' was the nickname of Charlie Parker, a great saxophone player.

At fifteen, Charlie knew he wanted to play the saxophone, so he left school to join a band.

Charlie soon found out he had a lot to learn.

When he was sixteen, a guitarist showed Charlie how tunes could be developed from chords.

Using these ideas, Charlie developed new ways of improvising and inventing melodies. This led to an exciting new style of jazz called Beebop.
